The History

La Partoucie is a 19th century building (1854), built in a straight Moorish style.
The first owner, Babaud Laribière, an officer in the military forces of Napoleon, who fought in the Oriënt, died before he had even finished the building. After it had been unoccupied for years it became a Dutch reception centre for Jewish refugees during the second world war. Under the direction of the painter Conrad Kickert (1892- 1965) well known as the Dutch painter of Montparnasse. The refugees all survived the war! Many years later, the new owners started to repair the roof of the building. And in 1998, after we had bought the property, the ground floor, and in the following years, the first floor became finally habitable, we have renovated the building with respect for old details and are proud we have managed to finish the work of Babaud Laribière. We opened the doors for our guests and invite them for a stay. A truly hidden gem in  Charente.
